Meta tags are invisible key words included in your website header, that are used for search engine referencing.
When determining the meta tags for your website, you should consider the way in which people search for certain things via search engines.
For example if I was a customer looking for a plumber in Sydney, I would type in "Plumber" and "Sydney" as search terms (not "Joe's Plumbing"). If you used the terms "Plumber" and "Sydney" as meta tags, you would gain a higher ranking in the search engine listing.
Examples of what you should include in your meta tags follow (this is by no means an exhaustive list):
- Business name (and permutations of such)
- Product name (and permutations of such)
- Product type
- Product category
- Geographic location
The description tag is a short concise paragraph relating to the business or product that you are advertising via the website.
